Anyone growing up in Cleveland in the late ‘50’s and early ‘60’s will remember this special Christmas personality….another Cleveland Classic! Created in 1956 by a Chicago ad executive for the Halle Brothers Department Store, Mr. Jingleing was the “Keeper of the Keys” to Santa’s Toyland – at the North Pole and Halle’s – and he was played in personal appearances by Tom Moviel, a Cleveland policeman with a hefty ring of keys. Plain Dealer reporter Tom Feran adds, “…but television – a five minute daily segment of stories and songs during the “Captain Penny” kids show on WEWS Channel 5 – made Mr. Jingleing as big as Santa in Cleveland. Play House actor Max Ellis did eight seasons; Karl Mackey of Lakewood Little Theater did one; and TV Channel 5 director Earl Keyes took over in 1965.” Now, Traditions Alive Records has succeeded in keeping the Mr. Jingleing character alive with the release of this cd and the addition of actor Jonathan Wilhelm donning the role. Remember your childhood and pass along the memory to your children or grandchildren with this EP. Tracks include:
1) Mr. Jingleing’s Jingle
2) Story of “How Mr. Jingleing Became the Keeper of the Keys”
3) “I Have the Key”
4) Mr. Jingleings Jingle – Sing along version
